Declerck Leterme Partners grew out of a collaboration between two originally separate law firms: Declerck & Partners and Leterme & Partners.
Declerck & Partners was founded in 1975. On 1 January 1990 it assumed the legal status of a collective partnership and in early 2008 it became a partnership with limited liability. By that time the firm had grown from the original 4 lawyers to a team of 16.
Leterme & Partners was founded in late 2005 and was formed around Bernard Leterme, who was previously a partner with Gits, Vandenberghe & Leterme and later a founding partner of another law firm, Laga. Together with the commercial and social law team from the Kortrijk office, he left that firm at the end of 2005 in order to form a new and carefully structured law firm with Declerck & Partners.
