Robert Volckaert

Robert Volckaert holds a PhD in law (1958) and a degree in notarial law and criminology (1959). In 1958, he opened his own law firm in Ostend along the Koninginnelaan. In 1973 he transferred his office to the Elisabethlaan. Robert Volckaert was a member of the Bar Council of the Bruges Bar Association for many years and was a staff member from 1987 to 1989. He was a member of the C.C.B.E. (Consultative Commission of the Bars of Europe) from 1991 to 1995. He was a judge at the TAS (Tribunale Arbitrale du Sport) from 1991 to 1995 and a member of the Sport and Law Commission at the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne from 1996 to 2001. In 2018, he was celebrated by the Bar Association for 60 years at the Bar. After a fine career of 65 years, Robert ceased his activities as a lawyer on 31 December 2023. As of January 1st 2024, Robert was included in the list of honorary lawyers by the Council of the Order of the Bar of West Flanders.
