Francis Volckaert obtained his candidature in law from the Université Notre Dame de la Paix Namur in 1990 and his licence in law from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1993. He completed his studies with a Master in Law (LLM '94) at Cornell University in New York State in the United States.
Francis started at the Bruges Bar Association in 1993 and joined his father Robert Volckaert in the law firm that year. The law firm was soon renamed Volckaert & Volckaert Law Firm. Since 1999, Francis has regularly been appointed legal guardian in bankruptcies. Francis was appointed substitute judge at the Justice of the Peace in Ostend in 2015. Francis is a recognised collaborative negotiator. He also sits on several boards of directors.
In January 2024, Francis joined DLPA as a partner.
